When you are in an abusive relationship, you will most likely be in denial that the abuse is actually happening. The person in the abusive relationship will never want to admit that their partner is abusive. People will also end up staying with people because they have been manipulated into thinking they don’t have the choice and that they will not have anyone better. For married couples, the one that is being abused by their partner might stay in order to protect their children. Some will also stay with the abusive partner because they are financially dependent on their spouse. They also might stay with them because they have built a life with that person and they do not know what they would do without them. They also might just be afraid to leave the person.
